News Release: Early Voting Continues Through Weekend

Early voting in Escambia will continue through the weekend and into next week. Voters who wish to participate in early voting have four locations from which to choose.

Hours of operation this weekend are as follows:

Voters may also opt to vote via absentee ballot. An absentee ballot can be obtained by contacting the Supervisor of Elections by mail, phone (850) 595-3900, email (absentee@escambiavotes.com). An absentee ballot request must include the voter’s date of birth, and the address where the ballot should be mailed. Absentee ballot requests must also be received no later than Wednesday, August 18th. Voted ballots must be returned to the Supervisor of Elections Office no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. Absentee voters may follow the status of their ballot by clicking the Track My Ballot link at EscambiaVotes.com.

A third option is available for voters to cast their ballot. They may opt to cast their ballot at their precinct on election day, August 24th. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on election day.

Florida is a “closed primary” state; voting in a party’s primary is limited to voters registered in that party. The deadline to change party affiliation for the August 24th election has passed. There are several non-partisan contests on the primary ballot (circuit judge, school board, Pensacola mayor). All voters, regardless of party affiliation, may vote in non-partisan races.

So far more than 2,100 voters have voted early and 23,000 absentee ballots have been issued for the August 24th Primary Election.
